Mounties Play Tough Against First Place West Chester
Katie Fitzpatrick paced three Mounties in double-figure, but it wouldn't be enough as Mansfield came up just short at division-leading West Chester 81-71 Saturday afternoon.
Mansfield University sophomore Charlsie Bowen set a new school record in the pole vault and hit an NCAA provisional mark at the Fastrack National Invitational on Friday.
MANSFIELD, PA— “The Grad School Roadmap: Getting Started, Getting In, Getting Through” will be the topic of a presentation by Dr. Don Martin on Wednesday, February 24, 6 p.m. at Alumni Hall, Room 307. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Martin’s talk will provide an insider’s perspective on researching grad programs, navigating the application process, and successfully completing a graduate program of study. Frequently asked questions (FAQs) of inquirers, applicants, admitted and enrolled students will also be addressed.
MANSFIELD, PA—“The Social Responsibilities of Scientists” will be the topic of a presentation by Paul Wendel and Kevin Svitana in Grant Science Center, Room 153 on Thursday, February 11 at 4 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Wendel and Svitana will discuss the imperatives and challenges of designing research studies and communicating data to community members, government agencies, industry and scientific peers.
Wendel teaches science education at Otterbein University in Ohio and his research interests include the environmental impacts of shale gas extraction.
MANSFIELD, PA— The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) has granted accreditation to the Mansfield University Radiology Technology Program. The accreditation is for eight years.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our radiology faculty,” Kathy Wright, chair of the Department of Health Sciences, said. “It’s so wonderful that they are reaccredited for the maximum number of years and have achieved JRCERT’s highest level of accreditation.”
The Radiology Technology Program is a full-time, two-year Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program.
MANSFIELD, PA— R.M. Sides Family Music Centers has purchased 50 tickets to the Cory Band concert on Thursday, February 18, 8 p.m. in Steadman Theater at Mansfield University and is making them available free to area high school students on a first-come, first-served basis.

MANSFIELD, PA— The Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) continued its support of Mansfield University students with a presentation of $3,500 to the PSECU Scholarship Fund on February 1.PSECU e-Center Manager David W. Sikorski, along with MU students and PSECU interns Deanna Sutton and Debbie Jennings, made the presentation to MU President Fran Hendricks.
PSECU has made an annual contribution to the fund since its campus branch was established in 2004.
MANSFIELD, PA—The Mansfield University Concert Choir, under the direction of Peggy Dettwiler, will sing in the worship service of the historic Marble Collegiate Church in New York City on Sunday, February 14 beginning at 10:45 a.m. The group will perform a 15-minute prelude of four selections; Laudar Vollio, featuring Eli Sauls, Jake Wilson and Malcolm Layaou as soloists, O Salutaris Hostia, with sopranos Cassie Zinkan and Sarah Polinski, a spiritual entitled I’ve Been in the Storm So Long, featuring mezzo-soprano Zoe Noyes, and the gospel piece Don’t Bend Down, with Kyle Rusk at the piano.
